Kept well, for the life of the house.
Three commitments after the piece arrives — how to care for it, what we cover if something fails, and what we do when the fabric is ready for a second life.
A sofa kept is a sofa that lasts.
A down-wrapped cushion wants to be turned and fluffed the way a bed is made in the morning — a minute at a time, once a week. The down clusters redistribute, the cushion keeps its shape, and the seat that results in year ten is not the seat that started in year one. That's the point.
Upholstery prefers indirect light. A linen or wool seat placed in a bay window will shift in tone over years — handsome shift, but a shift. If you want a piece held unchanged, draw the blinds at mid-day or rotate the arms seasonally.
For dust: a soft brush and a low-vacuum upholstery tool. For spills: blot, never rub, then call us before you improvise. We keep a short list of pro cleaners we trust in most cities.
Lifetime on the frame. Ten years on the deck.
Every Brantmere frame is warranted for as long as the original purchaser owns it. If a joint separates, a block cracks, a screw fails — we take the piece back to the workshop, fix it, and return it. No serial number required; we know what we built.
The eight-way hand-tied spring deck carries a ten-year warranty against sag, slip, or tie failure. Natural settling doesn't count — a deck is supposed to soften.
Cushion covers, fill, and hardware follow a two-year warranty against manufacturing defect. Beyond that, reupholstery is the path — covered below.
A second life, on the same frame.
A well-made frame will outlive its fabric by decades. When the time comes, we reupholster any piece we originally built — no deposit, trade-in pricing, and the same fabric library. You pick a new fabric from the book, we ship a crate, you ship the piece back, and we return it looking the way we remember it.
We also reupholster pieces we did not build, case by case, when the bones are worth the work. Send a photo and dimensions.
