A library of two hundred.

The quiet logic behind our fabric archive.

Our fabric library is a small library in the sense that a bookshelf is a small library — small means curated. There are roughly two hundred choices at any time, and we arrive at that number only by rejecting the fabrics we can't stand behind. We keep wools from English mills, linens from Belgium, leathers tanned without chromium, and performance weaves that are indistinguishable from the naturals they were trained on.

We do not keep anything glossy. We do not keep anything synthetic-feeling. We do not keep anything that has been printed to resemble something it is not. The library is open to clients and designers alike, by appointment, and we will overnight up to twelve returns at a time for review under the light of the room they are going into.

Two hundred is small compared to a sample room at any mill. It is also enough. The right number of choices is the number at which the choosing becomes pleasant again.
